Privacy Policy

Kneadful is a sourdough baking companion. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and what control you have over it. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the app, we don't run ads, and we never sell your data.

What we collect

No account: you can use the core app without an account. Your recipes, bakes, starters, and journal live on your device and are not sent to us.
Free account: your email address, first name, and a password (stored only as a secure hash). Your baking data (starters, bakes, feedings, custom recipes, analysis history) syncs to our servers so it follows you across devices.
AI features: photos you submit for analysis and messages you send to Prue are sent to our server and processed by Anthropic's Claude API to produce your results. We store the analysis verdict and a small thumbnail in your journal; chat conversations are not stored on our servers after the reply is generated.
Leaderboard: if you score a loaf on an account, your first name and score appear on the monthly leaderboard.
Payments: Kneadful+ billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details — we store only a customer reference and your subscription status.

What we don't do

No advertising, no ad trackers, no analytics brokers.
No selling or renting your data to anyone, ever.
No reading your synced baking data except as needed to operate the service or debug a problem you report.

Service providers

We use a small number of processors to run Kneadful: hosting and database infrastructure (Railway), AI processing (Anthropic), and payments (Stripe). Each receives only what it needs to do its job.

Data retention & deletion

Your synced data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all synced data at any time from inside the app: open the account screen, then choose Delete my account. Deletion removes your account record, synced baking data, leaderboard scores, and cancels any active Kneadful+ subscription. Data stored locally on your device stays on your device until you clear or uninstall the app.

Children

Kneadful is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll note it here with a new "last updated" date.
